Computer Applications
Computer applications (or often called a computer program) is software that is used for certain purposes. As we know, for every purpose there are many choices of applications. For homework, office, or business office to complete the job alone, for example, before you've available offece Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Outlook and many others. You'll only be installing one, two or three are among the many similar applications

Because a computer engineer will have an extensive understanding of such electronic devices as microprocessors, local and wide area networks, and even supercomputers that form the basis for worldwide communications, the career paths are wide and varied. Computer engineers can find work in such fields as telecommunications, transportation, manufacturing, and product development.

6. Types of occupation benfit from the use of computer
Benefits of computers for our lives and influence so many computers also have a negative and positive. The benefits that computers can now diraskan by all people ranging from education to government agencies also take advantage of the computer. Computers have become part of public life today, not only adults but also for children. Besides having the benefits, the computer can also give a negative impact. Aplikasi komputer (atau biasa juga disebut program komputer) adalah perangkat lunak yang dipakai untuk keperluan-keperluan tertentu. Sebagaimana kita ketahui, untuk setiap keperluan terdapat banyak pilihan aplikasi. Untuk mengerjakan pekerjaan rumah, kantor, maupun bisnis Untuk menyelesaikan pekerjaan office saja, sebagai contoh, di hadapan Anda telah tersedia Microsoft offece Word,Exel,Power point,Acces,Outlook dan masih banyak lagi yang lainnya. Anda pasti hanya akan menginstal satu, dua atau tiga saja diantara sekian banyak aplikasi sejenis

Beberapa hal yang bisa dijadikan bahan pertimbangan pada waktu memilih aplikasi adalah sebagai berikut. Pertama, seberapa sebuah aplikasi akan membebani komputer Anda (terutama RAM, dan juga ruang hard disk). Plihan program komputer mungkin banyak, tetapi harus diingat bahwa Anda dibatasi oleh spesifikasi komputer Anda. Kalau komputer Anda berspesifikasi super tinggi, Anda bisa menginstal versi atau release terbaru dari berbagai jenis aplikasi.

Kelima, harga. Ini terutama jika Anda hendak mendapatkan versi aslinya (bukan bajakan). Anda tentunya akan memilih yang lebih murah harganya. Namun jika Anda ingin mendapatkan versi bajakannya, tentunya faktor harga bukan lagi pertimbangan utama.
Keenam, ketersediaan. Sebagus apapun sebuah aplikasi komputer, jika Anda tidak bisa mendapatkannya karena tidak ada di toko atau persewaan installer maka ya sama aja dengan bohong. Anda tentu saja akan menginstal aplikasi yang installer-nya bisa Anda dapatkan.
Itulah beberapa hal yang mungkin bisa Anda pertimbangkan ketika memilih sebuah aplikasi komputer.
Perkembangan komputer masa kini begitu cepat dan semakin mudah digunakan oleh banyak kalangan. Setelah melewati sederetan perjalanan panjang, komputer dimasa sekarang ini lebih maju ketimbang dengan pendahulunya. Setelah tabung hampa, dan ditemukannya IC ( Integrated Circuit ), perkembangan komputer begitu pesat. Salah satu contoh nyata bahwa perkembangan komputer begitu cepat adalah saat dimana sebuah perusahaan terkemuka yaitu Intel Corporation memperkenalkan sebuah prosesor intel pentium1 yang kemudian disusul dengan pentium 2, pentium 3, dan pentium 4. Dengan dikeluarkannya procesor tersebut dapat membuktikan bahwa memang dari waktu ke waktu perkembangan komputer sangatlah besar. Pentium itu sendiri adalah generasi kelima dari arsitektur prosesor mikro x86 buatan Intel Corporation, yang desainnya dibuat oleh Vinod Dham. Pentium merupakan penerus dari jajaran prosesor 486, dan mulai dijual ke pasaran pertama kali pada tanggal 22 Maret 1993. Nama asli (kode) Pentium adalah 80586 atau i586, untuk mengikuti penamaan generasi sebelumnya.

Perkembangan komputer pada saat ini sangatlah berkembang pesat buktinya, selama dua dekade terakhir ini telah banyak terjadi sesuatu yang menggemparkan tetapi tidak sepesat sejarah komputer elektronik. Pada masa orang-orang tinggal dan bekerja, penemuan komputer oleh John V. Atanasoff (1942) bisa digolongkan pada salah satu dari peristiwa-peristiwa yang penting dalam sejarah. Namun, semua tidak terjadi begitu saja. Ada beberapa penemuan & peristiwa pada masa sebelumnya yang mendasari itu semua. komputer sudah bukan barang asing lagi bagi masyarakat penggunanya, namun sedikit yang mengetahui siapa penemunya, siapa yang memulai gagasan awal hingga dapat menghasilkanteknologi komputer tersebut, Tentunya manusia yang menemukan komputer tersebut adalahtidak kecil jasanya bagi masa-masa berikutnya, dimana penggunaan komputer tersebut telahdapat dinikmati oleh sebagian besar masyarakat dunia
3. Ini penting untuk para insinyur
Seorang insinyur komputer adalah teknik profesional yang tidak hanya memiliki pelatihan dari seorang insinyur listrik, tetapi juga memiliki kredensial yang terkait dengan bidang ilmu komputer. Kombinasi keterampilan teknik dasar yang merupakan provinsi dari semua insinyur dengan pengetahuan yang luas perancangan perangkat lunak dan implementasi menyediakan insinyur komputer dengan satu set keterampilan yang sangat menarik dalam dunia bisnis saat ini. Teknik Komputer melibatkan banyak aspek desain komputer, penciptaan komponen individu untuk peralatan komputer, desain jaringan, dan pilihan perangkat lunak mengintegrasikan dengan perangkat keras yang akan mendorong aplikasi. Seorang insinyur yang kompeten komputer dapat aman bekerja dalam lingkungan di mana komputer berperan dalam operasi bisnis. Karena insinyur komputer akan memiliki pemahaman yang luas perangkat elektronik seperti mikroprosesor, jaringan area lokal dan lebar, dan bahkan
superkomputer yang membentuk dasar untuk komunikasi di seluruh dunia, jalur karir yang luas dan beragam. Insinyur komputer dapat mencari pekerjaan di bidang-bidang seperti telekomunikasi, transportasi, manufaktur, dan pengembangan produk.
4. Ketika mesin tidak bekerja dengan baik
Berikut Penyebab komputer lambat dan cara mengatasinya. a. Komputer lambat karena kekurangan Memory.
Masalah komputer lambat karena minimnya RAM yang terpasang merupakan hal yang umumnya sudah diketahui oleh semua pengguna komputer. Untuk itu cobalah cek kapasitas memory yang terpasang, untuk komputer sekelas Intel Pentium 4 dengan OS Windows XP dan aplikasi standar sebaiknya upgrade-lah memory menjadi minimal 1 GB. b. Komputer lambat karena terlalu banyaknya program yang terinstall.
Secara pribadi saya sering menemukan komputer terutama milik pribadi yang di-install bermacam-macam program didalamnya, padahal aplikasi tersebut jarang atau bahkan tidak pernah digunakan sama sekali. Periksalah program apa saja yang terinstall dikomputer dengan cara klik Add/Remove Program di Control Panel dan un-install program-program yang hanya menjadi "accesories" tersebut.
c. Komputer lambat karena terlalu banyak startup programs dan service yang berjalan.
Hal ini berkaitan dengan point no 2, semakin banyak program yang terinstall, semakin banyak pula program dan service yang akan dijalankan ketika windows startup. Untuk menonaktifkan startup program dan service yang berjalan otomatis tersebut, masuklah ke "System Configuration Utility" dengan cara ketik: msconfig pada menu run, kemudian pada tab service dan startup lakukan uncheck terhadap aplikasi-aplikasi yang tidak diperlukan. Untuk melihat aplikasi apa saja yang sedang berjalan, kita bisa menggunakan tool Prosesexplorer. Dengan tool ini kita dapat melihat dan menonaktifkan (kill) aplikasi apa saja yang tidak diperlukan atau dicurigai sebagai virus. d. Komputer lambat karena Temporary File yang sudah membengkak.
Penyebab komputer lambat yang ke empat adalah sudah membengkaknya file-file temporary (sementara). Untuk Windows Xp lokasi file tersebut ada di:"C:\Documents and Settings\nama_user\Local Settings\Temp" dan"C:\WINDOWS\Temp". Untuk membersihkannya, delete-lah file-file yang terdapat di kedua lokasi tersebut atau jalankan program Disk CleanUp dengan cara klik start-run, ketik: "cleanmgr" lalu pilih drive yang akan di-cleanup.
e. Komputer lambat karena terlalu banyak program yang berfungsi sebagai "security program".
Security program seperti program antivirus dan firewall merupakan aplikasi tambahan yang harus ada pada komputer, tetapi janganlah terlalu berlebihan misalnya dengan menginstall 2-3 program antivirus sekaligus. Untuk masalah security windows, yang terpenting adalah lakukan update, aktifkan firewall dan gunakan antivirus yang tidak membebani komputer seperti misalnya PCMAV Antivirus serta berhati-hatilah ketika menggunakan USB Flashdisk / Memory Card. f. Komputer lambat karena masalah pada hardisk.
Hard disk merupakan komponen kedua setelah RAM yang bisa menyebabkan komputer menjadi lambat. Masalah Komputer lambat yang disebabkan oleh hard disk ini diantaranya karena:
Hard disk low space
Hard disk yang terfragmentasi
Hard disk yang sudah lama, sehingga rpm-nya menurun
Hard disk error / bad sector
g. Komputer lambat karena adanya virus, malware atau spyware pada komputer.
Apabila komputer kita sudah terlebih dahulu terserang virus atau malware, maka sebaiknya jalankan Windows Safe Mode, matikan fasilitas system restore dan gunakanlah program Virus Cleaner seperti misalnya Norman Malware Cleaner untuk membersihkan virus atau malware tersebut dan lakukan pula update pada sistem operasi. h. Komputer lambat karena System Files ada yang corrupt atau bahkan hilang.
Biasanya terjadi setelah komputer terinfeksi virus dan file-file yang terinfeksi tersebut terlanjur rusak atau terdelete oleh antivirus. Solusi yang paling gampang adalah dengan merepair sistem operasi yang digunakan.
5. Masalahnya wajah penerbit ketika ia memutuskan untuk berinvestasi dalam
pengembangan perangkat lunak yang baru.

Komputer ada di sana.
6 . Jenis pendudukan manfaat dari penggunaan komputer
Manfaat komputer bagi kehidupan kita sangat banyak dan pengaruh komputer juga ada yang negatif dan positif. Manfaat komputer itu sekarang dapat diraskan oleh semua kalangan mulai dari instansi pendidikan sampai pemerintahan juga mengambil manfaat komputer.
Komputer telah menjadi bagian hidup dari masyarakat saat ini, tidak hanya orang dewasa, tetapi juga bagi anak-anak. Selain memiliki manfaat, komputer juga dapat memberi dampak negatif. Tentu saja amat dibutuhkan kepedulian orang tua dan juga para pendidik untuk mencegah anak terkena dampak negatif dari kotak canggih ini.
Kebanyakan orang tua saat ini merasa serba salah jika anak mereka bersahabat dengan komputer. Keinginan kuat agar anak mereka tidak gagap teknologi dan bisa lebih banyak belajar melalui komputer terkadang kendur ketika melihat dampak negatif yang sering ditimbulkan dari penggunaan komputer yang tidak tepat
